I just read an article about companies digitally engineering bodies and photoshopping real faces on them.
There is no end in sight to this shit. There is no end in sight because we, as a society, continue to accept the artificial images that companies throw at us. It is a system that has developed in a self-perpetuating way. It breeds insecurity in generation after generation and proceeds to abuse that insecurity mercilessly. It teaches you to think that your body is not good enough, that you are disgusting, that people will be repulsed by you. It teaches you to insult and degrade others because they are imperfect. Because they’re fatter than you, because their boobs are smaller, because they have wrinkles, because they’re human beings. It teaches you to hate yourself because you don’t look like others do, those of us with more “desirable” features…whatever those may be. And you buy into it. You’re a slave to it. You buy what they’re selling.
Do you think companies are going to stop exploiting our insecurities? They don’t care about you and they’re never going to stop. They’re never going to stop because we, as individuals, accept what they’re doing. The diet fads, the beauty products, the idea of this false perfection. They try to humiliate you over your imperfections, your flaws, the things that make you unique. They shove images of airbrushed, over-edited models down your fucking throats, they take your money and destroy your confidence. Their goal is to waste you so they can turn a profit. They’re scum. Unless your health is at serious risk, the only person in this world who should be critiquing your body is you.
Stop fucking listening to them.
